Montessori Toys for Babies (Newborn to 4 Months)

I've been looking for great educational toys for my daughter and stumbled upon Montessori toys. I love that Montessori toys focus on skills like fine motor development, problem-solving, and creativity. These toys will be a great addition to your playroom!

  1. Lovevery Playgym

My daughter still loves playing with her Lovevery gym. If you decided to only get one toy for your little one during their first year, you can't go wrong with this playmat. The playmate allows you to hang other baby toys and offers various sensory experiences. I highly recommend you add the play gym to your baby registry. According to the Lovevery website, the baby gym is "[d]esigned to grow with your child from newborn to toddler, this play mat provides stage-based activities that engage them throughout their first year."

The play gym costs $140, but don't let that stop you from getting this play for your little one. You can easily find this play gym on the Facebook marketplace. If the listed play gym is missing cards or toys, you can easily get black and white cards from the Lovevery website, add sensory strands from the Lovevery website, and hang wooden toys from Amazon. The play gym is washable and very durable.

2.) Melissa and Doug Soft Books

You can easily find cringe books anywhere, and they are a great way to introduce your little one to reading.

3.) Wobbler

My daughter loves her wobbler from Kiwi Co Sensory Solar System Set. She loves reaching for it during tummy time. You can easily find a wobbler toy on Amazon ranging from $10- $20. The lovevery subscription box includes a wobbler toy in their Sensory playkit.

4.) My First Learn to Talk Book -My First Learn-to-Talk Book: Written by an Early Speech Expert! by Stephanie Cohen (available on Amazon)

This board book was my daughter's board book. This book helps parents model how to pronounce words and features photographs of diverse toddlers.

5.) Baby Natural Wood Bracelet with Bell Rainbow Ribbon Sensory Toy

She loved the sound of the bells and the many ribbon colors. We also hung this toy on her Lovevery play gym.

6.) Black and White Contrast board books

I would not recommend purchasing a white and black contrast book since you only need these in the first months while your baby's vision develops. Instead, you can easily find these board books at your local public library.

7.) Montessori Green Gobbi Visual Tracking Mobile

I placed this mobile on my daughter's changing table, which she still enjoys. Montessori has an order in which they recommend introducing mobiles to your baby. Due to exhaustion during my postpartum, I forgot to introduce the mobiles in the correct order. You can find this mobile on Amazon, or you can create the mobile yourself following a YouTube tutorial.

I hope you enjoy this special bonding time with your little one. Remember, you don’t need many baby toys during the first months. Give your baby a tour of your home, read baby books from the library, and enjoy snuggling with your baby.

Much love,

Carol
